DRC
We have been on the ground in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) since 2002. In close collaboration with the Institut National de Recherche Biomedical (INRB) and the Kinshasa School of Public Health (KSPH) at the University of Kinshasa, we’ve mastered conducting cutting-edge science in the hardest to reach places.
Over the course of our 20+ years, we have conducted research activities in 23 of the 26 provinces of the country.
In Kinshasa, we have a satellite UCLA office housed at the INRB.

Beyond office space, our lab is fully equipped with additional workspaces at KSPH and the National Central Veterinary Laboratory (LVC). We have functional serology and molecular biology wet lab spaces at INRB and LVC dedicated to our projects.

We have a dedicated guesthouse in Kinshasa (4 km from the INRB) with program-specific cars and drivers for staff, students, and visiting researchers.

Our labs in Kinshasa are fully outfitted to conduct serologic and molecular analysis in-country.
Available equipment and assay capacity includes:
- Multiplex Serology (3 Luminex MAGPIX platforms)
- MESO QuickPlex SQ 120MM
- Single-plex Serology/ELISA
- Nucleic Acid Extraction
- Nucleic Acid Amplification (Real Time PCR, traditional PCR)
- AI-Powered Tick Speciation (VecTech MosID)
- PBMC Collection and Isolation
- Large Biobank Facility for Long-term Sample Storage
